I use to think I knew simple
Eat, pray, smile—simple
Watch the birds fly between blankets of clouds—simple
Stand still as rain washed me—simple.
But that was until, I met a man
A man who changed my world;
Colored my ground in the brightest of yellows
Fed a heart love that only pumped pain
Revived my soul with the kiss of life,
Cycle through cycle, he remained.
Until I, became a snag and he resigned.
Back to black, all things came;
When pain was felt, in a less simple way.
We perfect the path of lose to lost
Get found and gain,
Only to lose and lose in life again.
I thought I knew, simple
But there was nothing quite simple
In the pain he gave.
